SWR full-form Station Working Rules. Station Working Rules is a book or document. SWR was issued for the safe running of trains considering the environment of the station and the area within the station.

Why are made Station Working Rules?

Station Working Rules are made considering the situation in the station’s local area or vicinity. Each station’s SWR is different. Because every station has different local areas and features. SWR has normal and abnormal conditions train operating rules.

Who issues are SWR?

Station Working Rules are made by Divisional Railway Manager Officers. When Divisional Railway Manager Officers made SWR depends on the type of station.

  • Interlock Station
  • Non-Interlock Station
  • Special class Station

Interlock Station:- Sr. DOM (Senior Divisional Operations Manager) and Sr. DSTE (Senior Signal Telecommunication Engineer) Approved SWR for Interlock Station.

Non-Interlock Station:- Sr. DOM (Senior Divisional Operations Manager) and Sr. DEN (Senior Divisional Engineer) Approved SWR for Non-Interlock Station.

Special class Station:- CRS (Commissioner of Railway Safety) Approved SWR for Special class Station.

If any special instruction is required for SWR issued then it is approved by CRS (Commissioner of Railway Safety). The signature of the authorized officer on SWR is generated for each station. Indian Railways GSR (General and Subsidiary Rules) are prepared. SWR does not constitute general and subsidiary rule infringement.

Station Working Rules Validity

SWR is valid for 5 years from the date of issue Or SWR Validity 5th correction slip from the issue date. If 5th correction slips are to be issued within 5 years then a fresh SWR has to be issued.

The Station Master ensures that station all vehicles operating members are aware of the Station Working Rules and All vehicle operating members’ signatures on the Ensure Register Book.
